My older grandaughter has a July birthday, so had to make something that involved Ruby. Debbie and I got some interesting ruby in matrix that we mined in Franklin, NC last spring. Took some of it and made cabochon (18 x 13 mm); got some 6 gauge copper wire (local hardware store — ground wire in the electrical department); some 23 gauge copper sheet and tools. Hammered the wire to make a flatish bar, cut the sheet to make a cabochon holder and soldered the two together and voila: A BOOKMARK
